John Kenny, at ANIMUSIC2012
Our honour to have this great Artist in A2025!
Call for Papers
You are most welcome to prepare and submit one or more proposals in any format (paper, lecture-demonstration, lecture-recital, poster, panel, soundspace, exhibition…). Participants are encouraged to explore the multi- and inter-disciplinarity of the "sound" studies. The Committee shall analyse and will respond as soon as possible, channelling the suggestions for the best output. We are always keen to create a space within the Program to stimulate participants who had never before presented in a conference, having such an understanding and kind community that makes them at ease. We have had many students who have strengthened their self-confidence and later on started organising conferences, recognising the value of such effort.
LECTURES
DEMONSTRATIONS
POSTERS
We look forward to abstracts that describe original and excellent studies about sound, music, musical instruments, and their relation to art, from various perspectives. The title, abstract (in English or bilingual, of up to 300 words), and a biographical note (of up to 100 words), may be sent to the email:
animusic.congress2025@gmail.com

PRESENTATIONS
Paper: 15 minutes + 5 minutes for Questions and Answers (Q&A)
Lecture-demonstration or Lecture-recital: 30 minutes
Poster: A3 format + 5 minutes presentation
Since the very first year, in 2012, we decided to have, at the end of each Session, a practical output (objects, demonstrations or performance), whenever possible. It can be a demonstration (detailing the construction of a replica, of a carnyx, for instance) or a lecture-recital (showcasing the presentation with performance). Please check the "Lectures" section for the proposal format.
We also have full recitals and concerts programmed for particular occasions, and in special places - for these, proposals should indicate the type of performance, the instruments (brought or required) and include audio or video excerpts of the performance, sending to:
CONCERTS
RECITALS
WORKSHOPS
We have programmed two Workshops by instrument makers from Madeira, and welcome suggestions for curious and interesting hands-on experiences. As examples, it may be an acoustic experimentation, or sensor art (dance with the wave-length, for instance), or on how to make circular-breathing for the performance of certain instruments (as we had at our Congress back in 2013). Please write to us about the type of workshop that you propose to offer, the materials provided by you or needed in Madeira for its realization, the duration, the maximum number of participants per Workshop, and what kind of equipment might be provided or needed. And send your proposal to:
The universal language for presentations is English. Papers may be read in Portuguese, Spanish, French or Italian, provided the PowerPoint projection is in English. We also accept participation with direct translation in special cases. Please contact us if you need any help.
