Brass-Focus sessions in the 2018 annual Organological Congress, Portugal

In 2018 the annual Organological Congress organised by ANIMUSIC, the international organisation based in Portugal, will be held in Caldas da Rainha from the 4th to the 7th of July.

This year a strong (but not exclusive) focus will be on brass instruments, in conjunction with the Historic Brass Society. The Scientific Committee invites offers of individual papers and lecture-recitals based on original research and discoveries, and proposals for panel sessions. In particular, contributions relating to the history, design, construction, function, and use of brass musical instruments from any period will be welcomed. The Congress will be a forum for the presentation of research in the active field of brass instruments scholarship, providing an occasion for brass scholars to interact fruitfully with organologists in parallel areas of study.

Congratulations to the recipient of the Utley Travel Award administered by the Historic Brass Society: Robert Warren Apple (USA)
