We are pleased to welcome all to an intensive four days program. Participants are coming from various parts of the world, from Australia and Japan to the USA and Brasil, being majorily from Europe. This year's papers and lecture-recitals cover a wide range of subjects, including on...
Kokyū and Viol - Examination of the origin of bowed string instruments in Japan at the beginning of the 17th century ; ocarinas ; the keyd trumpet special repertoire ; Native American and Irish traditional flutes ; the rich instrument collection of the Casa de los Mendonza in 1560 ; the 'pyrophone' or fire-organ ; classical historical flutes - including the piccolo: "a plea for a neglected species"... ; the introduction of the Dulcimer in Japan ; the Erard patents over times and challenges ; studies regarding replicas of instruments ; novel 3D printing experimentation and material comparisons, with the first ever "conference direct blind testing" ; Ukrainian ethnomusicological uses ; acoustical studies of the violin ; the global historical use of horns, with special Russian study cases ; archaeological research ; etc.
Besides papers, posters, videos and the Exhibition, we are very honoured and thankful to the generous offers of recitals and concerts by great musicians. Also to note is the Flute Focus, with a rare gathering of artists, scholars, makers and collectors, and the privileged occasion to have with us the mentors of the largest and heaviest transportable carillon of the world, the 'Lvsitanvs', with a special concert at the beautiful poetry-village Constancia, facing the two majestic rivers, Tejo and Zezere.
